Welcome to the Division of Professional Practice Web site. This site has been designed to meet the needs of the important constituents of the co-op triad – the employer, the student and the university. It provides insights into the economic, pedagogic and philosophical foundations that have led to a century of educational excellence through cooperative education.

For the second year in a row, UC's Cooperative Education Program is listed among the nation's best in the latest rankings out from "U.S. News & World Report" (Sept. 1 issue). Cooperative Education, the practice of alternating students' studies with paid work related to their major, had its world-wide founding in 1906 at the University of Cincinnati with 27 participating students. Today, more than 3,000 UC students participate in co-op annually, working here in the U.S. and in countries from Belgium to Thailand. Last year, "U.S. News" ranked UC's program 4th in the nation.
